The Wedding
The couple stands as two
before a representative of god.
On this the most beautiful day of their lives,
the sun is not shining.
The rain beats down upon everyone,
but the bride and groom do not get wet.
Already they are joining into one,
and their love shields them from the rain.
The sun is not shining,
but the couple is.
As they stand there, side by side,
they seem like a sun themselves,
only brighter and warmer.
Their warmth and light is enough for everyone,
and nobody feels the rain.
The rain does not ruin the day,
it makes it better,
more memorable and sets it apart from most weddings.
The rain washes away the past
and leaves a clean future
into which the bride and groom venture as one.
This was the best day of their lives,
and always will be,
as they live happily ever after.
