She Chooses Him

My eyes sting
as I watch their lips embrace
My heart pounds in my chest
breaking out of my rib cage
Needles pierce my skin
as my body goes numb all over
My ears are deaf to all sounds
except the smacking of their kiss
My mouth is a dry desert
and tastes of black ashes
My nose is filled with her perfume
mingled with his cologne
It revolts me

I want to run
I want to scream
I want to tear my eyes away
But I am paralyzed

Time drags into eternity
in the space of a heartbeat
They tear apart and retire to the bedroom
My heart still beats in my chest
It surprises me
